Limeni - Greece

The small village of Limeni lies on the south side of Limeni Bay at the southern end of the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese. It gives access to the Mani Peninsula, a rugged land populated by the fiercely independent Maniots, who claim to be direct descandants of the Spartans. Although there are no ancient sites, this remote area is dotted with stone towers and churches. In the village the Mavromichalis mansion houses the museum of Lineni with many interesting exhibits. Visit Aereopoli, capital of the Mani, with its narrow cobbled streets tower houses or the Diros Caves with its stalactite and stalagmite formations.
